Engineering Technician

Position Overview:

Responsible for the hands on assembly, debug, and verification of electronic and electromechanical prototypes in support of engineering activities such as design, test, evaluation of new products. Responsible for assembly, maintenance and upgrading using engineering equipment including but not limited to SeaBotix scopes, analyzers, meters, solder assembly tools, and laser systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform fabrication, modifications, testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works closely with engineers on qualification testing of new and existing products. This includes developing test methodology, establishing test parameters and drafting procedures. May be required to independently develop test processes and protocol given the desired goal.
  • Builds optical, mechanical and electrical assemblies in strict accordance with procedures.
  • Uses standardized tools and electric equipment (i.e., torque wrenches, electric and pneumatic screwdrivers calipers, force gauges, and photometers) to perform mechanical assembly, testing, repair, and troubleshooting of optical, mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Enters data into company databases.
  • Assembly and rework of printed circuit board assemblies using soldering/de-soldering equipment.
  • Fabrication of wiring harnesses and connectorized cable assemblies.
  • May collect and analyze data under descriptive instructions/guidance.
  • May recommend procedural improvements to management.
  • Follows control measures and processes to ensure the quality of modules produced.
  • Identifies and documents discrepant material.
  • Works on change orders to support Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Analyzes equipment performance and schedule maintenance and calibration as required.
  • Documents and monitors safety or security violations critical to product quality or operations.
  • Sets up and uses electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and computer based instrumentation) to test, analyze, repair and collect data under the direction of engineers.
  • Uses specialized test equipment and programs and common test equipment to execute and control testing throughout the design/production process.
  • Assembles or modifies prototypes according to detailed instructions.Investigates the root-cause of issues and provides information to Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Assists in the development of process documentation, equipment maintenance standards, and BOM's.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Skills Requirements:

  • Requires an Associate's Degree in a technical field or equivalent Trade School diploma.
  • Requires a minimum of four (4) years experience in a related field.
Salary Range: $16-21 per hour

Service Technician

Position Overview:

This position will be the key individual who is responsible for interfacing directly with the customers to help resolve field issues and to coordinate returns. This position will be the key individual who is responsible for ensuring the proper work flow, testing and repair of customer returned materials in-house. Required to maintain and report customer estimates and actual labor/part usage accurately and ensure proper ESD procedures are adhered to.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain customer relationships and perform estimates of repairs for all customer returns. Maintain a professional demeanor with all customers. Troubleshooting to the component level for PCB’s will be required.

Skills/Experience:

  • Working knowledge of electronic, electrical, electro-mechanical and mechanical systems required.
  • Minimum 2 years troubleshooting printed circuit boards and electromechanical devices.
  • Familiar with computers including Microsoft Excel, Office, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proven history of being able to follow through on specific projects.
  • Excellent judgment.
  • Able to perform a variety of complex tasks.
  • Self Starter w/ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Posses creativity and latitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills w/ability to resolve customer questions in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics, diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Willing to travel to remote locations to perform repairs/training.

Education Skills Requirements:

  • Degree: AS or equivalent military/industrial experience and training in electronics assembly and repair.

Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.50 per hour

PC Board Technician

Position Overview:

This position will be the key individual who is responsible for ensuring the proper work flow and testing of all electronics in-house. Required to maintain and report board inventory accurately and ensure proper ESD procedures are adhered to throughout the company. This position will be the key individual who is responsible for all board assembly, rework and programming instructions. This position will be the key individual who is responsible for maintaining/updating the bill of materials and checking for component obsolescence on all circuit boards. This position will be the key individual who is responsible for managing the existing staff of electronic technicians and will perform board testing.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform in circuit testing and troubleshooting of all printed circuit boards. Responsible for the accurate reporting of board level inventories, obsolete components, manufacturing instructions and revision updates.

Skills/Experience:

  • Working knowledge of electronic, electrical, electro-mechanical and mechanical systems required.
  • Minimum 3 years troubleshooting printed circuit boards to the component level.
  • Familiar with computer including, Protel, Microsoft Excel, Office, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proven history of being able to follow through on specific projects.
  • Excellent judgment.
  • Able to perform a variety of complex tasks.
  • Self Starter w/ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Posses creativity and latitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills w/ability to resolve customer questions in a professional and courteous manner.
