Victoria Police establish Hi-Tech Underwater Security Team
lbc

The Victoria Water Police of Australia have established a new team to combat terrorism and provide a rapid response underwater investigation capability. To accomplish the daunting task of protecting the ports the Underwater Security Team (UST) utilizes hi-tech equipment. Outfitted with side scan sonar, radial sonar and LBV200L2 systems the UST has the ability to conduct broad area searches and close up visual inspections.

Essentially the UST is able to map the Port of Melbourne using the side scan sonar. With targets identified from the side scan images the LBV is then able to quickly locate the target and provide a real time visual feedback. All of this information can be cataloged and used as a reference to determine if any changes occur hostile or not.

LBV300XL conducts 675m pipeline inspection
lbv600
Recently Canadian division of Aquatic Sciences purchased a LBV300XL2 to add to their underwater capability. Shortly after receiving the system the company put it to work. Comment from client:

"Just giving you notice regarding an inspection we completed today using our vehicle.  Stefane and Dan penetrated a pipeline 675m (2,215 feet) using 70% available power - both of them thought they would easily have been able to pay out the full 750m without any difficulty (they just needed a longer pipeline).  They were also able to incorporate a pneumatically powered wire brush, tool skid, and Cygnus probe to clean the pipe wall and record metal thickness measurements."

Even with the venue changing to Tampa, FL after the horrible aftermath of Hurricane Katrina SeaBotix was the star. Sharing booth area with UK agent Divex and colleges Analox the SeaBotix booth was always occupied with customers. Comments made that the SeaBotix booth was one of the busiest in the show despite the reduced attendance confirms how popular the LBV has become.
