lbcThe LBV150SE-5 is a hybrid ROV and crawler with a powerful attractor enabling the attachment to virtually any hard surface. Once attached the LBV150SE-5 can be driven rather than flown helping to stabilize searches of ship hulls.

How the LBV150SE-5 works is quite unique and better explained through visual demonstration. Watch the video and see how the LBV150SE-5 operates as either ROV or Crawler.

There are a few videos illustrating the operation of the LBV150SE-5. First is a brief look at the LBV150SE-5 attaching to a ship hull and driving. Second is the LBV150SE-5 flying around a sunken barge. Third is the LBV150SE-5 in a test tank.

Movie Files
Yukon - La Jolla, California

qt

Inlbv 2000 the decommissioned Canadian Destroyer Escort Ship HMS Yukon was deliberately sunk off the shores of La Jolla, California. The purpose was to create a safe wreck dive site for recreational scuba enthusiasts. Holes were cut in the hull to allow internal diving.

The HMS Yukon is 366 feet long and 70 feet tall. Maximum dive depth is 100 feet.

Featured in the video clip is a LBV150S system equipped with Brushless thrusters, grabber and external lighting. The compact size allows LBV to internally investigate wrecks while the powerful thrusters and small diameter umbilical enable LBV to maintain steady position for the highest quality image capture. As seen in the video LBV can be used as a diver aid to communicate with the surface. Also, deploying LBV prior to the divers enables a pre-dive site survey to maximize bottom time for the divers.

Tumble Downs - Sydney, Australia

qt

lbvLocated off the Royal National Park in South Sydney, Australia is a popular dive site called Tumble Downs. The rocky formations offer divers small caves, rock gullies and various underwater life.

Depths are quite shallow at only 15 meters maximum.

Featured in the video clip is a prototype LBV150 with custom shell design featuring improved thrust. Operating in open water surface current can often greatly affect an ROV's ability to maintain position. LBV with its powerful thrusters, ideal mass and small diameter umbilical allow the user to navigate through tough conditions with ease.

aimsThe Australian Institute of Marine Science purchased two comprehensive LBV systems equipped with Prizm fiber optic electronics with dual video channels, 620 line color cameras and all the other options. LBV is used to expand their research capabilities. The stable platform and incredibly high resolution video has produced some exceptional results.

The following clip are short segments of footage captured using the LBV system in Australia.

LBV300XL Field Test

qt

lbvThe LBV300XL features an awesome amount of power with the addition of two Brushless thrusters forward. Designed to pull extended lengths of umbilical (750 meters) the LBV300XL is an ideal compact long penetration inspection system. During initial trials the LBV300XL was tested in the San Diego Harbor near the Navy base.
