Crawler Skid Overview

SeaBotix has developed a revolutionary system that enables unprecedented stability, precision and ease of use when inspected ship hulls or other hard surfaces. The LBV150SE-5² can be fitted with the Crawler Skid attachment which enables the LBV150SE-5² to attach to hard surfaces such as a ship hull. Using four wheel drive and knobby tires the LBV150SE-5² can then drive rather than fly providing amazing control and stability.

Amazing Control
With the crawler skid the LBV150SE-5² becomes an unmatched tool for hard surface inspections. The patented suction device offers 28kgf of attraction keeping the LBV150SE-5² strongly attached to the surface in currents up to 5 knots. Once attached the controls switch from ROV mode to Crawl mode where the operator steers the four wheel drive system. With the large knobby tires and four wheel drive the LBV150SE-5² with skid will crawl over most obstacles.

An inherent problem with small ROVs is their instability, especially when the conditions are rough. The use of the Crawler Skid takes away this instability by turning a 3 dimensional proposition into a 2 dimensional one. No longer is the LBV a helicopter in heavy wind, but rather a tank on solid ground.

Convertible ROV Design
The LBV150SE-5² is the base system to which the Crawler Skid can be attached. With the easy installation (less than 5 minutes) the LBV150SE-5² and skid become a versatile solution to all your inspection needs. A single cable and eight bolts are all that is required to attach the Crawler Skid.

Ultimate Hull Inspection Tool
With the LBV150SE-5² fitted with the Crawler Skid the ROV is easily attached to the ship hull. Once attached the LBV150SE-5² is driven along the hull providing accurate and stable video/sensor feedback. All this is done in extreme conditions with ease. Operators can stop the LBV150SE-5² without worrying about losing position while they focus on capturing the highest quality video.

With the LBV150SE-5² adhered to the surface use of sensors becomes even easier and clearer. Such as sonars where blurring occurs from movement the LBV150SE-5² with Crawler skid provides such a stable platform that sonar image quality is perfect.
