One of the many unique and industry leading aspects of the SeaBotix line of systems is the umbilical. What makes it so unique is the revolutionary small diameter at just 8 mm (0.3 in). No longer does a small ROV have to be controlled by its umbilical.

The LBV150SE-5 benefits from this technology greatly increasing not only its capability but its portability. With the reduced drag from the small diameter umbilical the LBV150SE-5 is able to pull the full 175 meter (574ft) length and hold a stable position during ROV mode inspections. Of course when in Crawler Mode the LBV150SE-5 is unaffected by the umbilical.

An example of umbilical diameter drag comparison (using 0.6cd):

• 8mm umbilical at 2 knots creates a drag of 16.75lbs
• 10mm umbilical at 2 knots creates a drag of 21.99lbs
• 10mm umbilical creates 24% more drag thus the ROV must have 24% more power to overcome the additional drag.

Umbilical Reel
Supplied with the LBV150SE-5 is a convenient and rugged umbilical reel. Constructed from marine grade materials the reel is at home in harsh environments. The umbilical is easily spooled on the reel with the detachable handle. A slip ring is housed behind a waterproof case. Connection to the control system is through the long extension tether spooled on the side of the reel. When not inuse the reel packs away nicely in the provided transit case.
