Standard LBV Thrusters |
 |
Key to the performance of any ROV is the amount of Bollard thrust in relationship to the drag of the ROV and its umbilical. When LBV was designed significant amounts of research, design and testing was put into the thrusters. The result is a high performance thruster with 2.9kgf of Bollard thrust. Combined forward thrust of the LBV is 5.5kgf with a low weight of 11kg producing a 1:2 power to weight ratio. LBV is capable of working in current and pulling its small diameter umbilical. More power less drag.
Each LBV is fitted with four (4) thrusters, port forward, starboard forward, vertical and lateral. They are isolated from each other and the main housing and are identical in design allowing for a single spare to be carried. Construction consists of a hard anodized aluminum main housing with glass filled Delrin end caps. The type 37 Kort nozzle is glass filled nylon and all hardware is stainless steel.
The LBV150BE2 and LBV150S2 systems are equipped with the standard thrusters. These thrusters provide a high level of performance with low maintenance requirements. Inside the housing is a brushed motor and electronics controller. Sealing the 316 stainless shaft is a proprietary cup seal with grease gallery. The seal is field proven successful. |
