Product Maintenance

Maintenance SeaBotix MiniROV systems have been designed to be rugged for use in harsh environments. However, using ROVs require some basic maintenance to maintain the high level of performance expected as well as long life and trouble free use. Use these recommendations to properly maintain your SeaBotix MiniROV. A certain degree of common sense is required to know when additional maintenance is required. The better you take care of your MiniROV the better it will serve you.

After Each Use

Note: this is the minimum recommended maintenance.

Inspection

    • Carefully inspect the entire system for damage.
    • Inspect thruster propellers for debris that may be caught.
    • Inspect umbilical for cuts.

Cleaning

    • As a minimum take a fresh water hose and rinse the MiniROV thoroughly, taking care to wash under the protective shell.
    • Best to soak in a bucket of fresh water for 15 minutes or more to allow fresh water to penetrate all areas.
    • Wipe umbilical clean.
    • Clean any other components such as the controller or power supply if required.

Storage

    • Allow the MiniROV to dry after cleaning with fresh water.
    • Once everything is clean and dry pack away neatly in cases.

Every 50 Hours of Use

Note: 50 hours of operation is an approximate and can be done either before or slightly after 50 hours. This procedure is in addition to maintenance required after each use in clean or dirty water.

All of the SeaBotix MiniROV thrusters have a special grease gallery around the shaft seal. There is an outer debris O-ring and an inner cup seal with grease in the middle. The grease is a special type and supplied in the spares kits. By simply removing the grease gallery seal screw and pushing new grease into the gallery with the included syringe you ensure your thruster shaft seal is in proper condition.

Refer to your operator's manual for specific instructions on how to replenish the thruster shaft seal grease.

Additional Maintenance Requirements

Depending on amount of use there will be additional maintenance required. Such maintenance includes flushing the oil in the thrusters and replacing the view port.
